I used these just as I would for paper towels and found them nicely absorbable, soft, and they have cute patterns! I usually rinse them before washing and the stains come out easily.
These reusable cloths wash well and remain soft without dryer sheets or fabric softeners. I use them in the kitchen as napkins, to dry produce or clean up spills. They will definitely pay for themselves with the amount of paper towels I no longer have to buy. You could use them to soak up bacon grease, but I would suggest designating just two cloths for that purpose, to avoid staining all of your beautiful cloths with grease.
